24 Feb Vision Exchange @ Jurong Gateway
Vision Exchange is a new commercial project located in the heart of Jurong Gateway. Before I share more about Vision Exchange, it is worthwhile understanding the changes Jurong East has undergone over the years.
I formally entered the workforce towards the end of year 2000, working for home grown technology firm, Creative Technology. Creative Technology is located at 31 International Business Park, which is about 600 to 700 metres away from Jurong East MRT station/bus interchange. Back in those days, the Jurong East MRT station/bus interchange was surrounded by vast green field. The only buildings nearby were JTC Summit and Jurong Entertainment Centre.
Jurong Gateway in Jurong Lake District
Fast forward to 2008. In URA’s Masterplan 2008, Jurong Lake District was unveiled as a major growth area. The place would become a place for business and leisure and is divided into two locales: Lakeside and Jurong Gateway. Jurong Gateway is slated to become the largest commercial hub outside the CBD. There will be a mix of office, retail, residential, hotel, entertainment, F&B and other complementary uses in the immediate vicinity. See analysis on Jurong Lake District.
The changes and transformation of the Jurong East area have been massive. If you are in Jurong Gateway today, you will notice that the old Jurong Entertainment Centre has now been redeveloped to JCube. The shopping malls JEM and Westgate are also up and running. Big Box, operating under the warehouse retail scheme (think Ikea, Courts at Tampines) is undergoing construction at the moment. Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Community Hospital will be operational by end 2014 and 2015 respectively. Genting Singapore has already started building the first hotel in Jurong Lake District as well.
Sim Lian Group Limited will preview Vision Exchange, the 1st ever strata title commercial launch in Jurong Gateway in March 2014. Vision Exchange is a 99 years leasehold commercial property consisting of 640 offices, 53 medical suites and 47 F&B units.
It will be located at 2 Venture Drive which is approximately 400m to Jurong East Interchange. Venture Drive is currently not represented on the map but it will show up in due time.
